How this ministry came to be…

I guess the first time I prayed with anyone for healing was when my mom had back surgery and to say that it didn’t go well would be an understatement. Desperate, I prayed for her after she was out of recovery and was settled in her room. It wasn’t an instant healing, but her pain lessened and her projected five day stay lasted only three days. From that point forward, I started reading books, watching videos and learning all I could about charisms. I had discerned a calling to the Diaconate in my church but decided that wasn’t the path I should follow. I attended Seminary and learned more about the faith. I chose for a capstone project for my master’s degree the task of starting a healing prayer team in my church and as a result, my wife and I saw many healed of all types of afflictions over the years. The ministry slowly expanded and arrived at the point where it was taking more time than I had. More and more were people were coming for healing prayer with all types of needs and we were seeing more and more miracles (praise God).

Those were good days. Every week we went to church and expected to see our wounded friends and parishioners be healed – and many were. My wife and I saw ourselves like paramedics on a battlefield, patching up the wounded and each person we met was suffering from some illness or wound. Around this time I heard a talk from a priest named John Ricardo. He spoke about how our life on earth was like World War II. He then drew parallel between the cross and D-Day and just as D-Day (June 6, 1944) did not mark the end of the war, (which occurred on August 15, 1945), it marked the beginning of the end because after D-Day, the enemy was on the run and we were advancing. The same goes for the cross because we still have fighting to do, solders to patch up, and battles to fight. But the die has been cast and the end of Satan’s rule is in site and it’s all downhill from here. The cross (and D-Day) marked a definite turning point in history.

But for me, life – and the battle – went on. Then, right in the middle of 2025, after 29 years working for the same Fortune 20 company, I and hundreds of others were fired. No reason or forenotice was given, we just showed up for work one day and found that our badges no longer let us into the building. My team was devastated. We had all worked hard and were told we were doing a good job and then suddenly half of the team evaporated. What was I to do? I wasn’t old enough to retire and leaving an IT job that paid well was not part of my plan. But God knew this was coming and He had been preparing for this day for years in the background.

That was when this ministry went from something I did when I had time, to becoming the center of my life (and I thank God for it). Getting fired was difficult but I am now able to concentrate on helping others full time. Unfortunately, I am not quite at retirement age and I have no other means of support so this has been a bit of a financial shock, but again, God provides. He has in fact, provided you, who are reading this story right now, so, if you are able to help and feel called to with a donation, book purchase or an invite to a speaking engagement for your group or your church, I would be most grateful. I’m confident that God has a plan in all this and by releasing me from my old job He has provided me with a new one – this ministry. (I just have to get used to not relying on a directly deposited check!) I’m confident in the future because I look to the cross and I’ve seen His “God winks” all over in my life.

Oh, by the way, I was fired on June 6, 2025 – the anniversary of D-Day.
